The vision of the RCE is to make Skåne a leading example in Sweden on delivering education for sustainable development. RCE Skåne will contribute to the empowerment of people of all ages in the region to assume responsibility for creating a better tomorrow and a sustainable future.
The RCE plans to act as a catlayst in strengthening those (citizens, businesses and organizations) who are currently strivig for sustainable development in the region, and act as a platform for partnerships with similar intitiatives in other parts of the world.
Background
An RCE is a network of existing formal, non-formal and informal education organisations, mobilised to deliver education for sustainable development (ESD) to local and regional communities. A network of RCEs worldwide will constitute the Global Learning Space for Sustainable Development. RCEs aspire to achieve the goals of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD, 2005-2014), by translating its global objectives into the context of the local communities in which they operate.
